Sonia Rykiel

Sonia Rykiel Spring 2012, Paris Fashion Week

Rykiel's Yellow Road - known for fun, flirty shapes, the Spring 2012 collection from Sonia Rykiel did not disappoint with feminine dresses and jumpsuits inspired by the 1920's and 1970's. Models walked down the chalk yellow runway in a joyful palette of ivory, canary and marmalade, (best word to describe it). Prints came in the form of floral motifs and stripes which accentuated pleat details and peekaboo cut-outs. Beauty for the show included soft curls paired witha nude lip for an uninhibited display of Parisian chic. I love the fact that the runway is yellow in this collection, its something not seen very often and by this it really does bring more focus onto the garments as it brings out the colours in the clothes also. Plus its always nice to see something out of the ordinary which is one of the reasons why I think this collection was such a hit during Paris fashion week.

By looking at the collection, there is a sense of androgyny with the trouser suits and the way the models are positioned/the way they carry themselves with their hands in their pockets as this is something that is always linked back to men. I really like the variation of fabrics used as well and how they have been combined together. The hair and make-up especially is kept to a minimal which is intriguing as with 1920s classic makeup, it really enhanced the features.
