'Through The Decades'

This is an exclusive look at Free People's "20's" chapter of their 'Through the Decades' Holiday book featuring fashion trends from bygone eras and modern day. Photographed by David Bellemere, the story stars models Elsa Hosk and sisters Zuzanna and Julia Bijoch in 1920s inspired looks in romantic settings ranging from cafes and city streets, with somewhat of a Paris feel to the collection of images. Outfitted by Free People's stylists, the trio sports autumn knits, delicate lace, wide-legged trousers and flapper style dresses. With the composition of images and the colours used for the clothing and scenic settings, the collection has a slight hippies, bohemian feel which I think is a good modern day interpretation as if you think back to 1920s, with the flapper girls they did tend to do as they pleased, spend money without a care in the world and I think that this can be referenced back to bohemians. Which has been portrayed well within shoot.

The main thing I shall take away from looking into shoots of modern day 1920s clothing, is the way the models are positioned and how they are posing, as this can create a story, a feel and an atmosphere for the shoot. Such as this collection, the models look happy, free and somewhat smitten with the situations in which they are in, so I shall focus more attention on my models facial expressions when it comes down to my final shoots as this can really make or break the final image.
